Case Study: Quayside Group

The Quayside Group, based in Manchester, England, was established in 1995 and has since grown to become a leading online supplier of clothing for uniforms, promotions and events. They offer T Shirt Printing and Embroidery and wholesale clothing from brands like Fruit of the Loom and Regatta through Polo-Shirts.co.uk. The company’s success has been recognised as finalists in 2009 in the regional heats of the National Business Awards and in 2010 in the Fast Growth Business Awards.

Michael Conway – Managing Director of this fast growing and forward looking company – wanted to introduce a team productivity tool; he explained: “We wanted a clear and simple way for our staff to organise their priorities and make progress against these priorities visible throughout the business.” Quayside had therefore been evaluating several tools to do this, but had been dissatisfied with all of these.

Quayside chose to implement Teamly, and have found that with Teamly it has been easy for everybody to organise their own tasks, as well as for management to view progress on a daily basis without micro-managing. They have appreciated the clean and simple user-interface and the way that Teamly structures priorities into “Top Fives” for the quarter, month, week and day. As Conway explains, “These really enable you to see how tasks fit into the bigger picture and the company’s wider goals.”

Importantly, the simplicity of Teamly’s approach is what has made it so useful for Quayside Group, “It’s so straightforward to use that it takes no time from your day whilst focusing you on the tasks which really matter to the business,” said Conway.

Quayside’s staff are equally enthusiastic; Simon Turner, the company’s Marketing Manager likes it because “It enables me to quickly and easily structure my tasks so I know I’m always doing the right things to work towards longer term objectives.” At a team level Quayside finds that using Teamly has created an awareness and openness throughout the business as to what each department and individual is contributing on a daily basis.

The benefits for the company have been better communication, more productive staff and more focus on the top priorities within the business. Conway concludes, “I would recommend Teamly because it is a straightforward tool that will improve focus and productivity throughout any business.”
